The Theater of Vanity

In this dark, miniature theatre, the curtain fell centuries ago. Amid worn columns, silent arches, and relics scattered across the floor, Death performs its eternal comedy, while Time watches motionless from the wings.Inspired by the visionary wax sculptures of Gaetano Zumbo, this work gathers fragments of a decayed world: stripped limbs, forgotten skulls, and precious simulacra lie like useless trophies of long-dissolved ambitions. Every detail whispers an ancient and inescapable truth: all splendor is destined to fade, all glory to turn to dust. Crafted using mixed media — wood, clay, and copper — Il Teatro delle Vanità (36.5 × 28 × 10 cm) is a three-dimensional vanitas, a twilight stage where beauty, desire, and transience meet beneath the dim light of eternity.
